DSLR body for YASHICA ML/MC lenses
« on: 17.05.2010, 17:02:11 »

I am still using my little collection of Yashica-lenses on my FX-D and MP-109 body. Most of them are about 20years of age, but they still work fine and they are in a fantastic condition. Unfortunately the gap between analog and digital cannot be closed by the big foto-labs - they scan my analog films with 1.6 MegaPixels, which is a darned cheek - if you will pardon the expression.
  • Can anybody here recommend an actual DSLR body which I can use with my lenses?
  • I have googled some different adapters for different DSLRs but I don't know which combination is working best.
  • Some DSLRs offer autofocus inside the camera so the old lenses should also be able to AF. Is this recommendable?
  • Does anybody have experience with the Y/C to Sony adapter (there is some little modification necessary in the lense ...)
  • Adapters without lenses only work with full-format sensors. Those cameras are very expensive. Can anybody give me information about adapters with lense(s) for use with DSLR's with smaller sensors?
So if you have made any experience with YASHICA lenses on an actual DSLR body please use this forum to let us all participate.

Canon EOS 5D (Mark I) ::-

Which DSLR's should this be? The only SLR (I know) that offers this possibility is the Contax AX

Sorry, no ... only with Canon, Sigma and Nikon (you lose infinity with Nikon due to the register distance)

That is simply untrue - the critical thing is the register distance which is 45,5mm with C/Y - any SLR with less distance (EF 44,0mm, Sony 44,5mm) can use a lens with infinity focus with an adapter.
