I like more the 124 than 124G : less plastic, more chromes. The G stands for "Gold" as used on plated electrical connections.

Thanks for the image ... as I am currently only "using" the Mat (in contrast to "collecting") I like my 124G ... it's dependable and the results are pleasing. (Most probably the same will be true for a well maintained 124 :-))
